About MapGuesser

MapGuesser is a free geography game for learning the world map: guess countries, capitals and flags, or draw a country from memory.

MapGuesser is a free geography game built around one idea: you learn a map by using it, not by staring at it. It began as an Android app and now runs in your browser with the same maps, questions and scoring.

Two games, one world

Guess the Place

Eight kinds of question on a clean, label-free world map: find the country, place the capital, place a city, match the flag, type the name, find a natural feature, choose from four options, or select the members of an organisation.

Draw the Region

The border is hidden; a country or region is named, and you trace it from memory. After you submit, the target outline is drawn over your line and you get a score.

What is inside

  • 256 countries and territories, with 199 capitals
  • 939 notable cities and 616 natural features
  • 250 flags, including the EU and UN
  • 13 international organisations
  • 14 languages, with right-to-left support for Arabic and Urdu
  • A daily challenge with streaks and shareable results

Free, and stays free

Every game mode and every round is free. There is no account, no subscription and no round limit.

The Android app is supported by optional advertising; the browser game has no ads in the play area.

The app is available on Google Play. Questions or feedback: [email protected].
